The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: How to get to the city of Grudo, how to solve the mystery of the red pillar (2023)

one of the four stops you will pass throughregional phenomenonsearch line inkingdom tearsIt is the desert of Grodo. Unfortunately, the harsh climate of the desert region, which is Gerudo's home, has been made even harsher by cataclysmic events.

We recommend tackling the Gerudo Wilderness in the last of the four areas, as there are many different factors you'll need to address and consider before entering. However, you can choose to perform this task at any time.

As a quick note, there may be some minor spoilers in the screenshots below if you do the missions in a different order.

Here's how to cross the Gerudo desert and reach the Gerudo city.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: How to get to the city of Grudo, how to solve the mystery of the red pillar

How to prepare for the Grodo region

The Gerudo area has two different types of weather to deal with during this time. During the day, the mainland is scorching hot, so you will need some food to cool down or clothes to cool down, but you will have to go to Caracalla's Bazaar to get them.

At night, temperatures can drop, which means you have to do the opposite: keep warm. If you have been in the Strand area and have finishedmission ceremony, so you know something likeSnow feather setHot food (spicy chili-based dishes) is needed. Checkour recipe listSeek advice.

An additional precaution to take in the desert is to carry plenty of elemental materials, such as fire fruit, shock fruit, or any stone with elemental properties. Many of the monsters in this area are vulnerable to elemental attacks, and while you do have ways of dealing with them in the wilderness, it's best to be prepared.

How to get to the Groddo desert

It isrough desertIt's a long drive from Lookout Landing. It is southeast of your center, south of the Hebra region, surrounded by mountains and canyons. If you're coming directly from Landing, it's a good idea to bring a horse or cart.

you will passHyrule Field Observation Towerit's also worth itsuburban stablesand activateDianaby the way.

Head south from the stables.Didoger suspension bridgeand cross the gorge of Gerudo Pass. Naia will block your way to the entrance (unless you decide to scale a mountain or dive into a canyon from the air to avoid her). Please answer your questions as follows:

  1. Come closer to the fire!
  2. A nice shade!
  3. Cold mushrooms!
  4. To the cave!

So you can walk into the canyon without any problem.

Starting from the canyon, the first thing we recommend is to activateGrudeau Canyon Observation TowerNorthwest of Rock of Wonders. Unfortunately it is quite high and unless you are diving from the Lall Sky Islands in the South Seas, or can cleverly climb/ascend to get across the cliff, it can take a while. Or at least walk a lot.

The trail is relatively easy, if nothing else, but if you want to shorten your journey, when you reach the Koukot Plateau, use Ascend and climb to the top of the cliff to the south. Then you should be in the tower. Then the desert is just to the west of the tower, but you'll notice a huge sandstorm up ahead.

stopped atCaracalla BazaarOn the way. here, activateShrine of Marayataand buyDesert Fly Diadem, which will help to cope with the heat of the day. You can also buy elemental chutney jelly here, and there are plenty of foods to help cool you down from the heat.

How to get to the town of Grudo

Gerudo Town is located southwest of Kara Kara Bazaar, but when you enter the sandstorm, your Purah Pad will no longer work, meaning you'll have to get to town without a navigation tool. It's also hard to spot, and you'll run into some obstacles in the form of a new type of enemy:gibón.

Yes, the gibbons are back. They are similar to Re-Deads in that they don't take physical attacks, unless you use elementals on them. Whether you just drop elemental materials or fuse them into your arrows or weapons is up to you, butItem attributes cause Gibdos' outer shell to melt, exposing her skeletal frame, making her invulnerable to physical attacks. The same goes for Gibdo, who will be seen flying down the road.

You may be tempted to explore the desert, but due to the limited visibility, we recommend that you head straight for the village of Grudo. You can hike or cruise through the desert with a Sled Zonai device and a fan. Stay as straight as possible, but if you get lost, use one of the updrafts along the way to get off the top of the sandstorm and get your bearings.

(Video) Riju of Gerudo Town Red Pillars & Light Puzzle Zelda Tears of The Kingdom

You'll know something's up because you can walk right into Gerudo town without getting stopped. Also, it's completely empty.

Where to find Riju

First, head to the palace behind the city, then head downstairs. You will be stopped by a Gerudo who will tell you that you cannot enter. Instead, go back and go up the second flight of stairs to the throne room of the palace. Go behind the throne and find a box with the head of a sand seal on it. Use the Ultrahand to remove it and jump.

You will meet the residents of the city, led by the guard captain Buliara, who tells you that they have all lived under the palace since the sandstorm raged. Buliara initially fears that Lunk is Voe, recognizing him from Riju's (Gerudo Chief) description. She tells Link that Riju can be found in the ruins north of the city. Use Ascend to arrive before you leaveSoriotanog ShrineGives you a fast travel point above the city.

Browse the shop here to purchase arrows, food, and elemental items (if necessary), then exit through the previously locked entrance and head north from the city to the Northern Gerudo Ruins to find Riju practicing his mastery of lighting. .

Shoot arrows to help her: the first shot towards the target, the second closer to the target. This is a great showcase of what Riju is capable of: she sends out electrical waves. When you shoot an arrow in that wave, the lightning bolt hits the arrow, dealing massive area damage. After practicing with Riju for a while, a Gerudo soldier will interrupt him with the news that the Kara Kara Bazaar has been attacked.

Defend the Bazaar of Caracalla and the town of Grodo

If you have the Mayatat Shrine active then you should be able to teleport directly to the Bazaar. Once you get there, the battle will start and Riju will be by your side.

Caracalla Bazaar

This isn't so much a proper fight as it is a test of your skills. You will need to use Riju's lightning attack in combat. If you run out of arrows, don't worry: the Gerudo warriors will give you some if you need them.

The objective here is to fend off Gibdos by shooting arrows at Riju's pool of lightning. Wait for the light to hit a group of Gibdos, then aim your arrow at the ground near them to send them flying. Riju has a health bar, and if he reaches 0, you have to start the fight from scratch.

(Video) How To Unite The Red Pillars - Riju of Gerudo Town | The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Keep using Riju's lights (and snatching free arrows from the warrior) until a scene plays where Riju points out that the gibbon came from those mushroom-shaped pillars you might find on a desert safari. All you need to do is watch the hive's center pulse and glow purple, then destroy it with Riju's lightning. When prompted, return to Gerudo City.

rude people

Go back to Gerud Town, talk to Li Shu at the top of the stairs and get ready to defend the town. There are plenty of chests and weapons to loot, so get what you need and get ready for a big fight. You will get rupees, weapons and healing items.

Talk to Tick in the city to block any entrance to the city. You can also instruct warriors to defend specific entrances. You do nothaveTo do so, but if you're having trouble with the default settings for combat, it's worth a try. Talk to Riju when you're ready to start this tower defense minigame.

Once the battle begins, you will notice three Gibdo Hives surrounding the city: one to the north, one to the east, and one to the west. All you need to do is listen to Riju's calls and follow his instructions. For example, if he says that the monster is spawning in the east, go east.

The purpose is to eliminate the Hives to prevent the Gibdos from swarming. If you block Riju, you should be safe for a while, otherwise the monsters will approach her and attack her. If she dies, you'll have to start over.

Take down the three towers one by one – Use Riju's electricity to shoot an arrow at the pulsating mass in the center to destroy it. He then picks up Jibdo on the ground. There are also soldiers to deal with them, so if you see red markers swarming from a particular side of the map, head in that direction.

Don't forget that you can also use your own materials to take down Gibdos if you want. But for the hives, you have to use Riju's Lightning. The battle will end when all the Gidbos have been defeated.

Afterwards, Riju suspects that Gibdos has something to do with the arena. He wants you to follow her to the mural under the palace. He does this to find out what his next steps are.

How to solve the mystery of the red column

The cave painting depicts three towers that, when lit, create a triangle of light. Link must solve this puzzle to move on. The riddle is this:

"Stand back to back with the throne, and behold the red pillars stretching out over the vast sea. Gather the pillars in light, reveal the illumination stone, and open the way. You who can hear my voice, come to me." I'm waiting for you."

The first thing you need to do is go back to the throne room. Go behind the throne (and before the litter box) and look directly out the window. You will see a pillar in the distance. Jump down and run towards him.

Pilar #1

The first pillar is located directly southwest of Gerudo City at coordinates -4036, -3133, 0053 or so. This pillar is buried in the sand, making it easier to use Ascend or climb. In the center of the floor, you will see some crumbling rocks. Use a hammer weapon (or create one from one of the stones) to break them. This will reveal a light that will illuminate the mirror and illuminate the path.

Pilar #2

Just follow the beam (you can use the updraft again to see where you're going) to the next post. On the way you have to pass some big rocks. The light points west.

Taking advantage of the nearby updraft, slide onto a platform with a crank. You'll need to turn the crank fast, so use an Ultrahand or a fan to lift the tower out of the desert until it perfectly reflects the light in a new direction.

Pilar #3

Follow this third light to the third tower, which is already reflecting light, just not the way you want.

Crack the floor to reveal the floating stone and some sticks. Using the Ultrahand, stick the stick to one of the stones and move it as high as possible. Another stone, suspended in the air, uses Ascension and climbs up by itself. He then grabs the stone covered in sticks and pulls up. Split clubs and make cranks with Ultrahand. Then push it until the mirror reflects light towards the first tower.

last part

After forming a triangle, you need to go to the center of the shape to complete the puzzle. Slide north from the third pillar until you see some ruins with a strange stone sticking out of the middle. Riju will join you.

You will need to use Riju's electricity to activate the switch, so talk to her and shoot arrows at the tablet. After this, a temple will emerge from the sand—Lightning Temple.

After solving the red pillar puzzle, you will unlock the next dungeon (or the first one, depending on when you solve this part).
